Dan Lawrence

 

Dan Lawrence began painting in the mid-1970s at the Mendocino Arts Center before enrolling at the University of California, Davis, where he studied with Wayne Theibaud, Manuel Neri (and others), receiving his B.A. in fine arts. 
He did post-graduate work at Pratt Institute -  and with George McNeal at the New York Studio School. 
While enrolled in the M.F.A. program at Columbia University, he began a 20-year career, as a magazine editor,

at Time Inc., working with publications such as Sports Illustrated and Fortune. 

 

He moved to the Eastern Shore of Virginia in 2002 and has been painting full-time for the last eight years. Dan has won numerous awards for his work, has shown in dozens of group and one-man shows, and has had paintings accepted into the Virginia Artists Juried Show for four of the last five years. His paintings can be found in collections from Manhattan to Seattle.
